It is typically recommended when symptoms have not responded to splinting, activity modification, and cortisone injections, or when nerve damage is progressing.
Recovery depends on the specific procedure. Carpal tunnel release: most patients return to light activities within days to weeks. Tendon repair: structured therapy over 3–6 months. Fracture fixation: 4–12 weeks depending on location and stability. Dr. Awah will give you a personalized recovery timeline at your consultation.
Mild trigger finger can sometimes resolve with splinting and anti-inflammatory medication. Most cases, however, benefit from a cortisone injection — which resolves the condition in 50–70% of patients. If symptoms recur or do not respond to injection, a simple in-office or outpatient release procedure is highly effective.
